Does 7-Eleven sell vapes? Most US stores do, but it varies by franchise and by state — and in some places the law says a particular store cannot.

Short answer: most US 7-Elevens sell disposable vapes, but there is no chain-wide guarantee. Whether your local one does comes down to three things — the franchise owner, your state, and in some cases how close the store happens to be to a school.
That last one is not hypothetical, and it is the part nobody mentions.
Why it varies store to store
7-Eleven runs largely on a franchise model, so individual owners have real discretion over what sits behind the counter. Two stores a mile apart can stock differently because their owners made different calls about shelf space, margin, and compliance risk.
On top of that, state and municipal rules cut across the chain. Flavour restrictions and disposable bans exist in a number of jurisdictions, and they apply to the store regardless of what corporate would prefer to sell.
So the only reliable answer is a local one. Call ahead if it matters.
The school-proximity rule most guides miss
In September 2025, 7-Eleven agreed to pay $1.2 million to the District of Columbia Attorney General’s office. D.C. had passed a law in October 2022 banning e-cigarette sales within a quarter mile of middle and high schools; according to the announcement, 16 stores near schools went on to receive or sell more than 7,500 devices after it took effect.
The settlement also required 7-Eleven to pull vapes from the affected stores, run annual staff training, and monitor franchisees — with franchisees who break the rule four times in two years risking their franchise agreement.
The practical takeaway for a shopper is narrow but real: a 7-Eleven near a school may not sell vapes even where the rest of the city does. If the branch you have in mind sits beside a campus, that is a plausible reason it has none.
You need to be 21, and expect to be carded
Federal law sets the minimum age for buying any nicotine product at 21, nationwide, with no exceptions — including, contrary to a persistent myth, no military exemption (the full rule and where it comes from). Retailers are expected to check photo ID for anyone who looks under 30, and 7-Eleven stores commonly run ID scanners at the till rather than eyeballing it.
A scanner does not care that you are visibly older. Take the ID.
What they actually stock
It is a convenience store, so the range is short: disposables, plus the occasional pod system. Which disposables changes by location, by state rules, and by what the franchisee decided to order.
Two things worth knowing before you go:
- The range is thin. If you want a specific device or flavour, a vape shop or an online retailer will have it and a 7-Eleven very likely will not.
- Convenience pricing applies. Buying a disposable at a till next to the coffee is convenient, and you pay for that.
If they do not have it
Other convenience chains stock vapes on the same patchwork basis, so a second stop is a coin flip rather than a plan. Dedicated vape shops carry the range; online retailers carry more still, though shipping nicotine products has its own restrictions depending on where you live.
